Although we frequently feature some familiar names (all at extremely competitive prices!), our forte is locating the small production, high quality items that are just not found in the large chain stores and supermarkets. There’s nothing we like better than discovering a great new Cabernet or Merlot at a rock-bottom price!

Our knowledgeable staff scours the wine publications and spends endless hours speaking to the importers and distributors in order to search out great bargains in the world of wine. And by virtue of our on-site ownership and independent nature, we are able to move quickly to secure allocations of these top scoring and highly sought-after items.

In need of a last-minute gift or just a great bottle of wine, consider…

 * Juslyn ’03 Perry’s Blend Napa Cab ($42.99); 92 pointer with fruit from Andy Beckstoffer’s top 3 vineyards including To-Kalon; this wine began the year at $85; drinking well now and just HALF price! This could be the steal-of-the-year.

* Shrader ’07 Beckstoffer To-Kalon Napa Cabernet ($299.99); same vineyard source, but this is one of the heralded ‘07s…and the price is what 100 Parker points will get you.

* Colgin 2006 IX Estate Proprietary Red ($399.99); VERY limited cab-based blend from Ann’s winery/estate vineyard. This collector’s classic received that magical 100-points from Robert Parker .

* Harlan 2004 Napa Valley Cabernet ($549.99); 98 in Parker; higher average scores than Screaming Eagle over the last decade.

* Beau Vigne 2007 Reserve Napa Cabernet ($89.99); the ’06 got 96 from Parker and I can safely predict that when scores for the ‘07’s are released in The Wine Advocate on 12/22, this will go even higher. Could be the highest scoring cult cab at the lowest price! VERY limited.

* Cliff Lede 2006 Stag’s Leap Cabernet ($44.99); 92 points and simply delicious; a great QPR choice and drinking spectacularly right now. (Ask my wife to put one in my stocking if you see her J )

* Altamura 2005 Napa Valley Cabernet ($72.99); 95 Parker points and the deserved hit at this year’s Grape Escape event at Season’s 52.

* San Filippo 2004 Brunello di Montalcino “Le Lucere” ($62.99); a reserve bottling from a great Brunello vintage; this is 96 points in Wine Spectator, and their #2 wine from Brunello in a recent report.

* Peter Michael 2007 “Belle Cote” Chardonnay ($89.99); 96 point chard that’s MY favorite vineyard bottling from this stellar producer.

* Kister 2006 “Vine Hill” Chardonnay ($74.99); if there’s competition at the top for Peter Michael, it’s Steve Kistler’s fabulous chards.

* Clio Jumilla 2007 ($42.99); one of the new Spanish cult classics; no scores yet but it will be well into the 90’s I predict. Full-bodied, ripe, and delicious.

* Freeman 2006 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir ($32.99); beautiful cool-climate pinot; my current favorite; 92 in Spectator. Great price!

*Loring “Rosella’s Vyd” 2007 Pinot Noir ($32.99); also 92 points, Brian Loring is one of the most progressive of the new-wave pinot producers. This is my favorite of his 9 or 10 vineyard bottlings.

* Lattanzio 2006 Russian River Pinot Noir ($39.99); I’d be amiss if I didn’t mention Dominique’s pinot-of-the-year. Miniscule production, no reviews, but reminiscent of a fine Cotes de Nuit Burgundy!

* Orin Swift’s The Prisoner 2008 ($89.99 per 1.5 litre); yes, that’s the brand new vintage and we’ve got it first in magnums---a great gift or party treat. The Prisoner has been in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 the last 3 years running, a feat that’s near-impossible to top!

* Duckhorn 2006 Napa Merlot ($35.99); 92 points and look at this price!

* Cayuse 2007 “Cailloux” Syrah ($79.99); the ’06 received 98 points in Wine Advocate, and the ‘07’s are being hyped as Washington best vintage ever…where do you go from 98 points? (PS-Wine Advocate also cited this winery as “the #1 hardest mailing list to get on”…anywhere!) We’ve got just a few bottles…

Finally: In need of some party chardonnays at incredible prices?  How about…

* Freemark Abbey 2007 Napa Chardonnay ($15.99)

* Ferrari Carano 2007 Sonoma Chardonnay ($14.99)

* St. Clement 2007 Carneros Chardonnay ($11.99).

…and don’t forget our case discounting policy; Mix-and-match or straight cases always 10% less!

***********************************************

Be sure to come by the store on Fridays from 4:00-6:30 PM for our "happy hour" to try some wines – we frequently have winery reps and distributors visiting with us and sampling their wines, and we always have a few new treasures open on Saturdays as well.

Stop in and sign up for our special "Through the Grapevine" E-mail list for all of you out there who like to be kept informed of the latest wine news & release dates.

And finally, don’t miss out on attending one of our signature Wine Tastings and Themed Dinner Events. These are held monthly and feature a certain "theme" wine region or perhaps grape varietal. We usually sample a dozen or so wines – along with some appropriate cheeses, hors d’oeuvres, and dessert. Reservations are essential for these classes, as seating is limited and most all of them have sold-out!

Tastings last for approximately two hours, and are usually held  Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evenings beginning at 7:00 pm in our beautiful Grapevine Cafe. Costs vary depending upon the wines and food to be tasted. Please see our Calendar of Events for the latest information.
